Talk360 Secures $1.4 Million Pre-Series A Funding to Accelerate Growth

Talk360 raises $1.4M in pre-Series A to boost user growth, aiming for seven million by 2025, while expanding its localized services across Africa.

Talk360, the international calling app connecting users across the globe with affordable calls, has successfully raised $1.4 million in its pre-Series A funding round. The capital infusion will drive the app’s ambitious goal of connecting seven million users by 2025, with a specific focus on African communities worldwide. This funding round, led by long-time investor Havaic, is a crucial milestone for the company, which aims to bridge communication gaps in underserved regions.

Founded in 2016 by South African entrepreneur Dean Hiine and Dutch co-founders Hans Osnabrugge and Jorne Schamp, Talk360 offers affordable international calling services that require only the caller to have the app. The service connects both mobile and landline numbers worldwide, making it a vital communication tool for African migrant communities. This latest funding builds on their impressive growth trajectory, which saw them increase from 2.3 million users to over four million by 2023.

In addition to expanding its user base, Talk360 plans to enhance its offering by localizing the app into more African languages and strengthening partnerships with remittance companies and retailers. The company also aims to launch Africa’s first single checkout platform by late 2024, which will streamline payments across the continent’s fragmented market, a significant hurdle for consumers and merchants alike.

Co-founder and CEO Hans Osnabrugge highlighted the importance of the funding, stating it would help Talk360 continue its mission of connecting African communities with their families, particularly those in diaspora. The app’s payment platform, which has already shown a 25% improvement in conversion rates, is set to be opened to external merchants in the near future, further expanding its impact.

Havaic’s Managing Partner, Ian Lessem, expressed confidence in Talk360’s vision, emphasizing the app’s potential to deepen its influence, especially in Africa’s underserved communities. Despite the challenging global economic climate, Havaic remains committed to supporting Talk360’s growth and long-term profitability.

With this funding, Talk360 is well-positioned to enhance communication services for millions of Africans, offering a tailored and affordable solution that aligns with the unique needs of its users.
